Welcome to the new Blogpost for e-Counselling 2013

Dear friends,

It is a great pleasure to open a blogpost to facilitate communication and interaction between stakeholders of the e-Counselling 2013 process.

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board has ushered in many initiatives to encourage transparency in its endeavour. Creation of this Blogpost is another.

So, you may like to post blog containing your queries, views and suggestions in making this e-Counselling 2013 a fruitful exercise in the better interest of academic community.

Please disclose your identity while posting whereby the answers could be specific and useful. The Roll no. and/or Application no.of the candidate, wherever necessary may please be given to help us track the problem, if any.

    i registered in BOTH(JEEmain and WBJEE).
    I want to change my registration. I want to register only in WBJEE seats.

      Dear Soham,

      As to why would you like to change the registration? Actually, opting for both will give you better chance as 10% seats in Pvt Engineering Colleges is earmarked for JEE Main qualified students. Nonetheless, if you still desire to change, please contact the Board. Before doing that please rethink as your chances for getting higher option with both registration is better.

      Isn't there any seat reserved in Jadavpur for JEE MAIN candidates..or is the JEE MAIN reservation only for private colleges

      Last evening I saw on Board Website that Online Registration by both the types of candidates is allowed only in 1st round of counselling.They are not allowed in 2nd or 3rd round of counselling.
      In case, if i will not get my upper choices in 1st round of counselling. then i have no chance to go for any kind of upgradation in 2nd and 3rd round of counselling .

      @soham please read the instructions carefully.It is stated that "Online Registration by both the types of candidates is allowed only in 1st round of counselling through single interface irrespective whether they are eligible JEM seats or JEE seats. No fresh registrations will be allowed in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of counselling."We already know that we cannot register any other choice in the 2nd and 3rd round.It does not state that people registered for both jee main and wbjee is not considered for 2nd and 3rd round upgradation.

      Things are not clear if opt for both wbjee and jee main i can avail only 1st round of counselling? Board should be more clear before registration process. So opting for both i have no choice to but to select college from 1st round of counselling??? what should I do know? Shall I change?

      Where did you get this knowledge.. that people applying both wbjee seats and jee main would not be able to upgrade... don't such non-sense.... called the wbjee office and they confirmed that there is no such rule... just dont try to confuse others,...

    I have paid the allahabad bank e-challan and has been directed to the choice filling page. There are many streams in many colleges and i am getting confused that upto how many streams and colleges i can apply?? i am asking for the maximum limit. Waiting for your reply sir.

      Dear Swapnil,

      Please go to your full choice list. On the top left hand side, the total availability of choices for you is mentioned. When you chose one by clicking plus sign on the left side, the choice goes to the right side and the number of availability on the left side will reduce by one while the number of selected choice on the right hand side will increase by one.

      Hence, you could fill upto the maximum number of choices available to you which is mentioned on the left as stated above.

    We all know about seat allotment algo which is clearly written in the website, but there is a confusion in up gradation algo,how does it work??please clarify in details in website or here same as above..

      Dear Subhadeep,

      The upgradation process is clearly stated in the Government Order on e-Counselling 2013 and given under the link "Govt. Order." Besides you could refer to the FAQ.

      Suppose i have given 60 choice,
      1st round i have been allotted in 50

      [as per algo1 it works like start checking the opt from opt 1,2,3,4,5,6,7....19,20,21,......30...40...49]
      the programme have not find any vacant seat from 1-49 in my rank but i find a vacant seat in 50,and have successfully allotted the seat in 1st round..


      Now for up gradation process in 2nd and 3rd round how does it checks??
      is it checks from 1-49[1,2,3,4,5,6.........8,9,10....30,,,40,41,42,....48,49] like above??????

      or it check like 49-1[49,48,47...30,29,28.......9,8,7.....3,2.1]??????

    Sir,
    i want to ask one question regarding ecounselling process.Sir if i get chance in one college after 1st round of counselling but i opted for 2nd round and can't get any college after its completion,can i get my previous seat back and same for third round also????????

      Dear Sreerup,

      Please go through the FAQ and Government Order on e-Counselling. They will answer your query.

      Let me assure you, this process is for your betterment of choices given by you. If in first round you get 50th choice out of your list of 200 choices and you choose to opt for upgradation, during 2nd round of allotment, you may get 35th choice and in 3rd round 12th choice depending upon vacancy created by rankholders above you who have been allocated upper choices.

      If you do not get any upgraded choice in 2nd or 3rd round, your first round choice always remains.

      You never lose your allotment unless you are upgraded to a better choice as per your list of choices.

      Don't worry. This process is for you to get better choice on subsequent rounds through upgradation.

    Sir , my roll no is 810540559 and application no is 3049478. I have submitted an application to WBJEEB on 18/6/2013 to cancel my TFW benifit as i dont have a certificate . I havnt registered yet and waiting for the alteration. what should i do ?

    My roll no. is 740010146 and my application no. is 3063078.In the online rank card it is mentioned that "Original Score cards are under dispatch by the WBJEEB separately." Was it really dispatched? Or it is going to be dispatched later on?Because none of my classmates have received it yet.

    I Nishanta Majumdar a candidate who appeared wbjee 2013 bearing roll no.710030124.I want to get information regarding the counselling,i.e. even if i take admission after the 3rd round of counselling can i participate in the 4th round or informed choice filling round.such that even if i dont get the sit in 4th round,i will have the sit that i got in 3rd round on my hand.

      from FAQ: Students from States other than West Bengal and Tripura and merit listed in WBJEE-2013
      can opt for University Seats but not for seat in any of the Govt. Engineering & Technology Colleges.

      The order of choices is very important.

      One is allowed to fill any branch in any college(for which they are eligible) but one should fill the choices depending on one's interest(palcements of that college,monetary condition,distance etc.) and the availability of that choice(as suggested by last year's opening and closing rank).

      In subsequent rounds one might go up the list by upgardation but is not allowed to come down from the currently alloted seat.So fill the choices in proper order.

      According to colleges all the branches are equal and it is not the college which decides the opening and closing rank.This depends on the students who are applying for admission and depending on the availability of seats(due to choice of other students who have a rank better than your's) the seats are alloted.

      Last week I heard on the TV DD1on this issue. They advised to mail them and they will try to solve the problem. however, they also warned that this will not be possible if the number is very large. Ankit

    i am a student from coochbehar and My name is Shubhadeep Dev, my wbjee application number is 3048140 and my wbjee roll number is 740020053....i got a rank 4118. but i have done a mistake while filling my form online...my actual DOB is 17/04/1994 but i gave it 18/04/1994 i'm so sorry for that...i contacted wbjee office after that they informed me to send a proof of my DOB..I sent it but my DOB was printed wrong in my admit card....then i again contacted wbjee office and i was informed that a chance for correcting of my DOB will be given after the exam but still i didnt find it and my date of birth is still wrong i'm so worry about that.. i hope that im not gonna face a problem at the time of counseling and admission in college...

    one of my friend did not appeared for wbjee , in counselling he appllied through JEE MAIN rank using JEE MAIN roll no..... when he went to allahabad bank for chalan.procedure.. they said they cant take his challan, bank staff said.his roll no. is wrong... bank staff he is getting error when entering his JEE MAIN roll no. so he is unable to submit the challan... please help soon.....

    i am arijit sarkar ,roll no 810280068. my question is that suppose in the first round my 7th choice gets selected.for the subsequent rounds will all of the previous 6 choices be scanned..i.e i may not be eligable for the 6th and 5th,but can get the 4th choice..is this how the upgradation system works??

      ya.. you are right. In subsequent rounds all your previous six choices will be scanned from top to bottom. you may get promoted from 7th to 4th.

    Sir,
    I have taken admission into Statistics honours course of Xaviers ,and,I have simultaneously applied for e-counselling also.In that case,If I have been assigned a seat in the first round of allotment on 14th july,do I have to cancel my admission at Xaviers before reporting at the RC?Or,can I cancel my admission later after taking provisional admission at the RC?
    Also,JEE MAINS Central counselling is scheduled to take place on 9th july(1st round) ,nd,13th july(2nd round).supposing ,I am able to get a seat into another Institute through the centralised counselling,will I still remain eligible for the WBJEE counselling?

      Just go to wbjee counselling portal, select "Participating Institutions"... The list of colleges are given along with contact numbers... Click on "More", and you can get important info like percentage placement, fees etc. If you want to know more, just google it.

      First,see last year's opening and closing rank and this gives a good idea about the standing of the colleges.Note down the colleges where you might get a seat according your rank and then search about those colleges on google,ask about those colleges in their facebook groups,ask those mutual friends who study there.

      With this rank it is very hard to get into govt collage if you belong to general category. The architecture in BESU closes at about 8500 GMR rank... I would rather suggest you to get into one of the private collages such as...Techno India(Salt Lake),Techno Global(Balurghat), Haldia Institute of Technology or Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology...
      I think I am able to clear your doubt...?

      Placements are good.Most of the companies which come for civil also recruits from construction and same is the case with electrical and power.In JU many branches have a sister branch and the placements are almost alike.

      Tell me your rank,I might just be able to tell you the good branches available at your rank.

      If you can get BESU IT then it is the best choice.

      Then comes JU Power.

      then comes BESU Mining and JU Construction.

      But remember to take a branch based on your interest not only on placement prospects.

      You should not have entered false details. you could have visited other Allahabad bank branchs.Many of my friends who registered through jee have paid.You may face problem in Reporting Centre.

    I have submitted the fees i.e. Rs 506/- at Allahabad Bank on 21st June. But till now I have not updated the eChallan details provided by the bank to the website. So, it is a question for me that, 'Can this delay in updation of the fee details cause cancellation of my registration?'

      ya... you may get. You have more chances in civil than in electrical. See the OR CR of 2012. But for arranging your choices, you dont need to set them according to your chances... arrange them according to your preference...

    I have paid my fees for registration in allahabad bank. and they have given me a journal no. of 6 digits but when I try to put the details on the website it said it required a 7 digit journal no . Please sir help me . I am very nervous . please sir ...!!

    1.) If the Allotted institute to any candidate matches with any of the reporting centers, then is there any sort of compulsion that except the allotted institute, we'll have to report in any of the other reporting centers.......??????
    2.)As per the given information, e counselling process ends on 31st July. So sir, When can we expect the colleges to begin from...?It would be really greatful on your part if u tell us any tentative dates so that we can book railway tickets in advance.

      Instru is better than chemical in terms of placement and higher studies both.JU's instru is one of the best in india with a lot of GATE toppers,good faculty and a lot of psu's come here so the placement is really good.

      Last year chemical closed at 1366 so you might get it in 3rd round.
      IT,Production,Power and construction would also be available at your rank,so choose the branch based on your interest as placements are very similar to their sister branches CSE,Mech.,Elect.....respectively.

      Don't pay attention to INDICATIVE SEAT DETAILS.

      If I remember last year's counselling procedure correctly then it is an indicative of the seats for which many people have filled in as a choice
      but it is of not much use because anyone is allowed to fill choice for any seat(for which they are eligible) but it is the availability of seats due to the choices of the students who got a better rank than you.

      So don't worry and do think about other branches as well according to your interest.Ask me if confused.

      Since you are interested in electrical but you won't get it,so I suggest you to take power in JU which is the sister branch of electrical.

      According to your rank you can get IT,chemical,production,power,construction in JU.

      If you are interested in computers(programming and stuff) then IT will be the best choice.

      You can also look towards other branches mentioned above.

      the procedure for up-gradation will all be done at the reporting centre :) its very much simple , read the counselling process , and YES , if u are alloted the 15th seat , then u may only rise thereafter , the below 10 choices will be rendered useless then :)

      In Universities it does not matter that you are from "other state".You are eligible for JU and BESU both.

      At your rank you have many options available in JU and BESU.

      it will give you idea of the branches that might be available to you.

    while entering online chalan details the server just saves the data... it does not checks for its accuracy.... all the details will be checked by wbjee staffs.. and if anything is found wrong... your candidature will be canceled.....

    My WBJEE GMR is 13220 and TFW rank is 2331. I am a little confused about how the TFW rank comes to be of any use during selection process. It is also not clear whether the last year's OR-CR mentioned against TFW seats are TFW ranks or they are GMR. Kindly note that I desperately need TFW support and unable to start the choice filling because of this confusion.

      you should click on that and fill required fields like journal number and all. . .all details are written on challan,, after updating e-challan details, then only you will be able to fill and lock choices

      With this rank you can only get the private collages of West Bengal. The top private collages such as IEM and Heritage is tough for you to get in the rank you mentioned...if you belong to gerenal category. I would suggest you to look into collages such as Haldia Institute of Technology, Techno India(Salt Lake), Techno Global(Balurghat), Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology.

      Yes,after first round of allotment,you will be required to take provisional admission to the allotted seat at the RC,then,if you sign for YES-UPGRADATION,you will become eligible for seat upgradation.In case,you are not upgraded to a new seat in the 2nd round,your previous alloted seat would remain with you.But,if alloted a new seat in the 2nd round,you will be required to surrender the seat alloted to you in the first round and take admission to the new alloted seat.

    Last evening I saw on Board Website that Online Registration by both the types of candidates is allowed only in 1st round of counselling.They are not allowed in 2nd or 3rd round of counselling.
    In case, if i will not get my upper choices in 1st round of counselling. then i have no chance to go for any kind of upgradation in 2nd and 3rd round of counselling .
